I can't remember if it was Applebees or
Chili's that had the vanilla ice cream scroop with nuts, fudge
and a cherry on top sitting in the middle of cinnamon chips in
the shape of tortilla wedges. That was one of my favorite
desserts. No matter how full I was, I always ordered that dessert.

Thinking about this made me get a bit nostalgic and I wondered
if there was a way I could re-create that recipe. I searched on
the Internet, and sure enough I found what I was looking for. So
here's what I call Dessert Style Chips & Dip. :-)

Cinnamon Chips w/Ice Cream

2 cups sugar/cinnamon mix
butter flavored cooking spray
10 (10 inch) tortillas (flour or corn)

Preheat oven to 350 Fahrenheit. Coat each side of each tortilla
with cooking spray. Cut into wedges and arrange in a single
layer on a large baking sheet. Sprinkle wedges with desired
amount of sugar/cinnamon and spray again with cooking spray.

Bake in oven for 8 to 10 minutes (ovens may vary). Repeat with
any remaining tortilla wedges, and allow to cool for
approxiamately 15 minutes. Serve with any flavor ice cream you
want.

Or alternatively, you can serve it with fruit and spice mixture
called Fruit Salsa/Dip. In a large bowl, mix:

2 kiwis (peeled and dried),
2 apples (peeled, cored, and dried),
1 (8 ounce) package of raspberries,
1 pound of strawberries,
2 tablespoons of white sugar,
1 tablespoon of brown sugar,
3 tablespoons of fruit preserves (any flavor)

and cover and chill in refrigerator for 15 minu"

Easy, Yummy Recipes Using Cooked Turkey

Article Stock Pile: "Easy, Yummy Recipes Using Cooked Turkey
By: Sherri Allen
Almost every household in America has the same problem the day after Thanksgiving -- what will you do with all the leftover turkey? You could just reheat the leftovers and serve them. You could just slice the turkey and make cold sandwiches. But this year, after you've eaten the plain leftovers and sandwiches and want something with a little more pizzazz, try one of these tasty and easy recipes.

Easiest Turkey Pot-Pie

This pot-pie is very easy and results in a dinner the whole family will love. My family is partial to this recipe because they prefer the pie crust to the biscuit topping that is commonly used in pot-pies. If you don't have frozen soup vegetables, regular mixed vegetables are fine as a substitution.

* 2 cups chopped cooked turkey
* 1 16-oz pkg frozen soup vegetables
* 1 12-oz jar turkey gravy
* 1/4 cup water
* 2 refrigerated pie crusts

Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

Combine turkey, vegetables, gravy and water in a mixing bowl. Set aside.

Place one of the pie crusts in a 9-inch pie pan. Add the turkey mixture. Place the remaining pie crust on top. Seal the edges of the pie crusts. Cut slits in the top pie crust to vent.

Bake in the oven for 1 hour, until crust is golden and filling is bubbly.

Turkey Hoagies

Whether you call them hoagies, subs or grinders, these hot sandwiches are just right for a quick meal when you want something warm and yummy without a lot of work.

* 1 Tbsp olive oil
* 1 large onion, sliced
* 1 large green pepper, sliced
* 1 cup chopped cooked turkey
* 1/8 cup Italian salad dressing
* 4 hoagie rolls, split
* 1 cup mozzarella cheese

Saute onions and green peppe"

How to Easily Make Sourdough French Toast Like Cracker Barrel

Article Stock Pile: "How to Easily Make Sourdough French Toast Like Cracker Barrel
By: Kori Puckett
I got an idea one day when I was in a Cracker Barrel
restaurant eating breakfast. They had sourdough French
toast and it was the best French toast I'd had, so I wanted
to re-create the recipe at home.

I haven't gotten this down to a recipe with exact
measurements, but I usually use:

Pepperidge Farmhouse Sourdough bread slices
about 1 to 1 1/2 or so cups of milk
1 or 2 egg whites (or the whole egg, if you prefer)
cinnamon and/or sugar (optional)

Mix the milk, egg whites, and cinnamon and/or sugar
together. Place both sides of each bread slice into the
mixture to saturate the bread.

Most of the time I use Pam cooking spray to butter the
pan, because it's easier and quicker for me to just spray
every time to keep it from sticking. But if you prefer
butter or margarine, that's fine too.

The first slice you should cook for a few minutes on each
side. Then with the other slices, after the pan has had a
chance to really get hot, it only takes a couple of minutes
each side to get it brown."

Barbecue Success With The Rule Of Thirds

Article Stock Pile: "Barbecue Success With The Rule Of Thirds
By: Les Brand
Ever been to a barbecue party where the chef placed as much food as he could possibly fit onto the barbecue grill, every so often stabbing the food with a fork and juggling it around so that it cooks evenly? Ever noticed how, within a few minutes, the flames start gently flickering under the food, the chef proudly standing back admiring the char grill effect that hes creating? Ever notice the panic that sets in when the flames suddenly leap up and around the food burning it black on the outside and leaving it raw on the inside?

The difference between great char grilled barbecue food and burnt offerings lies in a few small precautions. The chef that weve just described made a few fatal errors that could easily have been avoided. Before discussing the errors though, lets consider the equipment that were talking about. Although the same can happen with gas as with charcoal, gas grills can be turned lower, or off, when the flames start getting out of control. The flames can also be controlled if the barbecue grill has a tight fitting lid, as with a Weber kettle grill. However most people seem to cook on an open top barbecue grill with the lid, if it has one, open. Note that were talking about a barbecue grill here, where the food is cooked directly over the hot coals. True barbecue uses indirect heat with the food fully enclosed as though in an oven. So, the barbecue grill that our imaginary chef is using is an open top, charcoal, barbecue grill."

Oatmeal-Apple-Raisin Muffins

Article Stock Pile: "Oatmeal-Apple-Raisin Muffins
By: LeAnn R. First, whatever happened to manners. We were not allowed to leave the table without permission and unless it was an outright emergency we had to stay until everyone was done eating. Also, we used dinnertime to catch up on the day?s activities. When my dad wasn?t there, my mom would ask my sister, brother and I how our day was. Did everything go well, any problems? WE COMMUNICATED.

When my dad was home, he told us about his week and how things were in the city with our family and then we all got a chance to catch him up as to what we were doing (school, friends, after school activities). Even as we all got older, we still had to be home for Sunday dinner. It was mandatory. It was family time, my mom always tried to make the meal extra special.

There was always give and take in my family. We all had a voice and our parents always listened to us. They might not have agreed with us, but they always listened to us. If we even say the word, they tune out and already decide they don?t like it. Well, my first response to this is ?who is running the house, you or the kids?. If you say the kids, you have more problems than I can help you with. Put your foot down, you and your husband, spouse, significant other, (fill in the blank) are the ones making the living and doing the providing. I fully realize that children don?t like the concept of healthy foods. However, most children don?t realize that many of the foods they do like are healthy for them. Most kids I know love peanut butter, well that is a good food for them. So try some peanut butter on that apple or celery they refuse to eat. Or try some low fat or fat free cheese sauce on the cauliflower or broccoli they turn their nose up at.

One of the biggest mistakes parents make it to try to implement changes all at once. This is a certain recipe for rebellion. Try to make changes gradually. You know those smoothies they love so much. Rather than the milkshake try some yogurt and fruit instead. All kids love French fries (even many adults I know do). Rather than fries try substituting tortilla chips and salsa instead.

I have a friend who decided that her family was going to eat healthy and she threw out all the snacks foods and junk foods in the house. Well needless to say her spouse and the kids went ballistic. So make it a gradual change. Start by making some changes to the snacks around the house and then work up to the meals. In the long run you will be glad you did and so will your children.

Copyright"

Barbecue Success With The Rule Of Thirds

Barbecue Success With The Rule Of Thirds: "Barbecue Success With The Rule Of Thirds
By: Les Brand

Ever been to a barbecue party where the ?chef? placed as much food as he could possibly fit onto the barbecue grill, every so often stabbing the food with a fork and juggling it around so that it cooks evenly? Ever noticed how, within a few minutes, the flames start gently flickering under the food, the chef proudly standing back admiring the char grill effect that he?s creating? Ever notice the panic that sets in when the flames suddenly leap up and around the food burning it black on the outside and leaving it raw on the inside?

The difference between great char grilled barbecue food and burnt offerings lies in a few small precautions. The chef that we?ve just described made a few fatal errors that could easily have been avoided. Before discussing the errors though, lets consider the equipment that we?re talking about. Note that we?re talking about a barbecue grill here, where the food is cooked directly over the hot coals. True barbecue uses indirect heat with the food fully enclosed as "

Easy Blueberry (or Cherry) Cheesecake

Easy Blueberry (or Cherry) Cheesecake: "

Easy Blueberry (or Cherry) Cheesecake
By: LeAnn R. Ralph

Homemade Cinnamon Rolls from Scratch (in 2 hours or less!)

If I've heard it once, I've heard it a dozen times: 'Make homemade cinnamon rolls? From scratch? Are you crazy? That takes all day!'

Actually, it depends upon the recipe.

I have several recipes for homemade cinnamon rolls that do, indeed, take at least all afternoon, if not all day -- scald the milk and let it cool to room temperature (30 minutes); mix the dough and let it raise for an hour (1.5 hours); punch down the dough and let it raise for another hour (1 hour); shape into cinnamon rolls and let raise for another hour (1.5 hours); and then, finally, bake the cinnamon rolls (30 minutes) -- for a grand total of 5 hours from start to finish.

But it doesn't have to be that way. You really can make homemade cinnamon rolls from scratch in two hours or less.

Here's my recipe:

2 cups of warm water
1/2 cup sugar
4 teaspoons dry yeast (or two packages of dry yeast)
2 eggs
1 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup Canola oil (I use Canola, but you can use any kind of cooking oil) (you can also use shortening, if you prefer)
6 to 7 cups of flour

Dissolve the yeast in the warm water. Let sit for a minute or two. Add the sugar and salt. Mix. Add the cooking oil (or shortening), 2 eggs, 2 cups of flour and beat until smooth.

Stir in 3 more cups of flour. Begin kneading the dough, adding the final cup of flour. If the dough seems too sticky, knead in more flour, a quarter to a half cup at a time.

Let the dough 'rest' for 15 to 20 minutes.
